Not One Without the Other
A social justice love story
After nearly nine years of research and writing, I am happy to report we have a publisher who is enthusiastic about telling the extraordinary story of Judy and Charlie Liteky, whose courage, sacrifice, and devotion to justice inspired us.
Their commitment to peace and human rights came at great personal cost, including imprisonment and long separations, yet they never wavered.
This is not just their story. It is a testament to love, perseverance, and moral courage — lessons that are urgently needed in today’s world of division, fear and greed.

I NEED YOUR HELP
I am in negotiations with ALIVE Book Publishing, a reputable publisher in the Bay Area that has helped more than 300 authors over the past 20 years.
ALIVE works with authors through the “hybrid” method of publishing, which, in this case, requires from the author an upfront investment of $7,900 before it begins production — editing, layout, cover design, copyright registration, printing and promotion. (My publishing consultant advises me this is “in the ballpark” in hybrid publishing and she suggests that I raise $10,000 by mid-December to cover contingencies and ensure the book is released without delay.)
Your support will do the following:
* Preserve the legacy of Judy and Charlie, who died nearly nine years ago
* Share a rare love story rooted in courage, sacrifice, and justice with readers hungry for hope
* Bring forward an inspiring narrative that teachers, students, and activists can use as a guide and for motivation
* Ensure this book reaches the public within six months of final submission to the publisher.
Join us on our mission
Every dollar donated, large or small, will directly fund publishing and promoting costs. My goal is to send the manuscript and $7,900 by December 15 to the publisher, which offers the prospect of publishing the book by mid-June, 2026.
Not One Without the Other a social justice love story has been my labor of love since the Litekys died. I believe its message can touch lives and strengthen the ongoing struggle for justice. With your help, it will finally be shared widely.
